Homewood Suites Hartford Downtown Review

Review of the Homewood Suites Hartford Downtown in Hartford, CT

The Homewood Suties Hartford Downtown is conveniently located right near Union Station, various restaurants and in the middle of the major businesses of the city such as Aetna and Travelers.   They provide a shuttle service that runs until 11 PM each weekday, and they'll take you anywhere in the city you need to go for free (although a tip is always appreciated).

For the hotel itself, the rooms are quite spacious and comfortable.  Some of them even have a gorgeous view of the Capitol Building in the city.  They all include a kitchen and living room area, so you definitely can't complain about the space they give you.  The staff is also extremely friendly and helpful with any questions you may have.  In addition, free breakfast AND dinner is served each day.  The dinner even comes with wine or beer if you'd like.  I've never been to a hotel that would go that far to help please its guests.

There are only two negative items that I encountered in my stay of 2 weeks here.  The first was when I arrived and went to my room, the bed was completely undone and there were dirty towels in the bathroom.  Apparently housekeeping never turned the room over from the previous guest.  However, when I called the front desk, they immediately took care of it and put me in another room.  The next day, I also found a $15 gift card to Panera as an apology for the inconvenience.  Even though a mistake was made, the hotel took care of it promptly and effectively, so I must give them credit for that.

The other issue, which would probably concern business travelers most, is that the internet (via WiFi or Wired connection) is extremely slow.  I called the front desk about this, but they use a 3rd party company to service their internet and that company couldn't do anything to improve the speeds.  It felt like I was on an old 56k modem connection.  So, be wary of this if internet is important to you in your hotel stay.

Overall, I had a really good experience at this hotel and would stay there again on my next trip to Hartford.
