Disney Cruise Line: Restaurants on the Disney Magic

On the Disney Magic, as with the other Disney Cruise Line ships, there are three restaurants that families enjoy through the Disney rotational dining. There is also Palo on the Disney Magic (and the other Disney ships), which is the adult-only restaurant, and does cost a little extra and definitely requires a reservation.

On the Disney Magic, the three rotation dining rooms are Animator's Palate, Lumiere's and Parrot Cay, all of which are themed in only a way Disney can.

Lumiere's has a much more subdued decor than the other two restaurants, but some of my favorite foods. If you look into the chandeliers, you can see a rose with a few petals that have fallen off, like the one in Beast's castle from Beauty and the Beast. Lumiere's is also open for breakfast or brunch every morning, if you have time for a full service, sit down breakfast. (Definitely have the Eggs Benedict - delicious!)

Parrot Cay has a rainforest theme - dark woods surround the restaurant, parrots look down from the ceiling and flora and greens surround you while you dine. We had the pleasure of eating here during Pirate's Night - the perfect setting for this swashbuckling evening!

Animator's Palate is probably everyone's favorite restaurant. The entire restaurant is black and white when you first enter. The walls are covered in drawings of some of your favorite Disney characters in small pictures and larger frames. As your dinner progresses, characters in the frames gain color slowly and by the end of dinner, the entire room is filled with color, with the help of a special guest. Definitely bring a video camera for your first night here, its quite a show!

Palo, the adult only restaurant on Disney Magic, is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with your significant other or the adults in your party. Make reservations in advance online or you can make reservations when you first board the ship. Try the osso buco - it was melt in your mouth delicious. Also, when your waiter asks if you want the chocolate souffle, say yes. There is no other place on the ship where you can get this dessert, and it is warm, yummy, and delicious. You need to order it with your entree because it takes a while to cook, but do it, you'll be glad you did.
