La Belle Époque

La Belle Époque is located in a perfect spot in downtown Napa, making it easy to walk to all the restaurants and stores downtown, but tucked away in a quiet corner. The building itself is a gorgeous Victorian. The room we had (the Zinfandel) had a very comfortable bed and was pretty spacious. The shower/jacuzzi was located separately from the sink and toilet, which made it quicker for two people to get ready in the morning.

The staff was very friendly and the breakfast they made each morning was absolutely delicious. In addition, there was always fresh baked goods, coffee, chocolates, and port and sherry out for guests. You also get sparkling wine presented in ice upon your arrival.

The wi-fi was very good and there was plenty of parking on the street available for the B&B. We'd definitely recommend this location for anyone staying in Napa.

Sunrise Landing Bed & Breakfast

Located on Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York, the Sunrise Landing Bed & Breakfast is an ideal location for couples looking to get away for a few days.  The B&B is located off of the main road that runs parallel to the west side of the lake, Route 14, down a dirt road to get you right onto the lake.  There is a sense of serenity and peace at the property.  The owners are delightful, friendly and look to accommodate all of their guests.

We were able to easily book an all day privately chauffeured wine tour through them and they were able to set up all the logistics for us, including providing free tastings at many of the wineries in the area.

Each morning, a delicious breakfast was freshly prepared for us, and the owners were more than willing to adjust the menu for anyone's special dietary needs.  Not enough can be said about the amazing peach stuffed french toast that was made our second morning, or the orange cranberry scones, and the chocolate chip muffins, and roasted potatoes (really, everything served for breakfast was delicious!).  You just need to taste it to understand.

We chose the Rose Suite for our stay, which is the smallest of the rooms (and thus the cheapest) and it worked perfectly for our needs.  It's a very comfortable bedroom that allows for views of various birds in the morning at the bird feeders.  In addition, you get a private sitting room with a television and a refrigerator stocked with drinks and snacks.

The Sunrise Landing B&B also provides an amazing view of Seneca Lake, and direct access to the lake. We would highly recommend this B&B to anyone looking to visit the Finger Lakes!

Black Duck Inn

The Black Duck Inn is a quaint Bed & Breakfast located right off the main wharf of downtown Newport, RI on Pelham Street.  This central location makes it perfect for being able to walk to most things downtown.  With the expensive cost of parking in this area (ranging between $10-$20 a day), the free parking the hotel provides is a great benefit.

When we checked in, we got upgraded to the Meritage Suite, which was located on the 2nd floor.  It should be noted that you do need to check in a block down the street at the Blue Jewel Inn, but this did not prove to be problematic at all.

The room itself was very clean and the bed was the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in at a hotel.  In addition, this room has a private Jacuzzi to help you relax after a long day of walking around Newport.  The flat panel TV is a little small, but there is a good amount of channels to choose from for viewing when you're in for the night and relaxing.

Each morning, the breakfast, served between 8 and 10 AM, was phenomenal.  The first morning we had French Toast with sausage that was made as soon as we came down the stairs.  The 2nd day we had a vegetable quiche with bacon that was also delicious.  In addition to these freshly made dishes, there was fresh fruit, english muffins, cereal and other standard breakfast choices available.  Throughout the day, there was always tea and coffee available, as well as fresh baked cookies.

We'd definitely recommend this bed & breakfast to anyone staying in Newport and will definitely stay there again in any future visits.
