This weekend in the Philadelphia area, various events are occurring to celebrate the holiday weekend. I've compiled a list of a few items for those looking to venture out and enjoy their weekend honoring a great man in our country's history.
Ursinus College - Hosting an ecumenical service at noon in Bomberger Hall, followed by a candlelight vigil at 6 p.m. at the Unity House. This will be followed at 7:30 p.m. in Bomberger Hall with a keynote address by Dr. Nikitah Okembe-Ra Imani titled "Can You Hear the Sound of the Drum?".
Philadelphia Museum of Art - This museum, which is normally closed on Mondays, will be open for the holiday and will be featuring the temporary exhibit, "Michelangelo Pistoletto: Cittadellarte".
Liberty Bell - On Monday, Mayor Michael Nutter and Governer Ed Rendell will be performing a ceremonial tapping of the Liberty Bell starting at 11:30 a.m.
Franklin Institute - The video of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s famous "I Have a Dream" speech will be playing throughout the day. Also, the Storybook Science series will feature specials highlighting the work of famous African American scientists.
The Haverford School - The Martin Luther King, Jr. Caring Community carnival will be held on Sunday, January 16.
National Constitution Center - Various activities will be occurring exploring Martin Luther King, Jr.'s contributions to America.

Philadelphia Zoo - The Zoo is hosting a "single day camp" on Monday where the children can discover how all life is linked together. This will be running from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
